About Our Prints
At HomeSweetHomeArt all of our prints are digital
reproductions of original acrylic watercolour paintings. We
strive to maintain superb quality throughout the reproduction
process to give you the closest match to the original painting
as possible.
Our reproduction process.
1} The
first step in our reproduction process is digital scanning,
we use a very high quality, high end drum scanner which produces
a digital file of exacting clarity and colour.
2} The
file then moves on to print preparation where the file is
scrutinised for colour accuracy. As some colours are
very hard to reproduce colour matching with the original
painting is carried out, if required. This is also the stage
where any text is added to the print border, and the artist
carries out a proofing with the original painting.
3} The
final step in the reproduction process is the printing.
Art prints are produced using the lithographic process printed
on Tintoretto Neve 140g/m2 stock,
this has a very similar texture and feel to a quality artists
watercolour paper. We feel the combination of this stock
and the latest 4 colour digital press gives the closest rendition
achievable for litho printing to the original watercolour.
Our best quality prints are produced on a commercial high
end 8 colour Giclée printer.
The term Giclée is French for "to squirt" and describes
the way ink is deposited on the paper. These printers function
in the same way as a domestic inkjet printer but, they print
up to 60" wide, are highly accurate and use 8 individual
colour pigmented inks for a wide colour gamut and print longevity.
The stock used for these prints is Hahnemühle 310g/m2 rag
which is a textured bright white rag based paper specifically
designed to meet the need of artists using digital reproduction
output. The heavier 310g/m2 paper
provides the weight of an art paper with a smooth calendered
surface, which picks up every detail captured in the scan
of the original painting and produces superb vibrant results.
All Hahnemühle papers are produced in accordance with
DIN6738 and ISO9706 specifications for archive grade paper.
The papers are 100% acid free with a neutral pH.
Pigmented Inks
Rather than using a dye based ink dissolved
in water, pigments rely on microscopic pigmented particles
suspended in a solution. As a result, they tend to have more
water resistance with some manufacturers warranting that their
prints will be waterproof, also combined with the correct paper,
longevity and colour fastness is vastly improved over dye based
inks. Additionally, the smaller particle size and lower surface
tension of the solutions used allow for finer droplets and
thus higher resolution.
Mounts/Mats
Our present range of mounts comprise of four colour combinations ivory/black,
ivory/plum, ivory/green and ivory/blue. The primary ivory colour
was picked as a neutral background to blend with a majority
of room decor schemes, and the four secondary colours chosen
to compliment the paintings. Below we have scans of
our mounts / mats to show the colours in close up and the quality
of the cut.
Frames
We have three styles of frame in our range, antique pine, mahogany/gilt
effect and honey pine. All three have ornate profiles and are
of good construction. Below we have photographs of our
frames to better illustrate the profiles.

Framing
All our prints are framed using Plexiglass as it is light weight,
shatterproof, and filters up to 60% of ultraviolet rays. Our frames are sealed on the back
with quality gummed brown tape to stop dirt and dust creeping in to the frames over many years.
We use brass fixings and picture wire for the hanging system. The picture wire is crimped with
metal ferrules for strength and long life.
The finished sizes for our framed prints are:
Framed 20.3 x 25.4 cm (8 x 10 inches) = finished size 25.9 x 30.9 cm (10.2 x 12.1 inches)
Framed 30.4 x 40.6 cm (12 x 16 inches) = finished size 36 x 46 cm (14.2 x 18.2 inches)
Framed and mounted/matted 30.4 x 40.6 cm (12 x 16 inches) = finished size 46.4 x 56.3 cm (18.25 x 22.2 inches)

At HomeSweetHomeArt prints are available framed
or unframed. For shipping, framed print(s) will be wrapped
